For the sneak preview we have included two free spells for d20 modern.
Bang, You're Dead Evocation Level: Arcane 3, Sor/Wiz 3 Components: V, S Casting Time: 1 standard action. Range: Personal Target: Self Duration: 2 minutes/level Saving Throw: None Spell Resistance: No Description: You "load" your hand with phantom bullets that deal nonlethal damage. To fire the bullets you simply point your finger and say "bang". Effect: Upon completion of the spell one of your hands is considered "loaded" with phantom bullets. You gain five bullets per caster level. For the duration of the spell you can make attack actions with the phantom bullets as though you were firing them from a normal, semi-automatic pistol. The bullets deal 2d6 points of nonlethal ballistic damage, have a range increment of 40 ft. and threaten a critical hit on an unmodified roll of twenty. They are considered +1 weapons for the purposes of overcoming damage reduction but gain no bonus to attack or damage rolls. The bullets otherwise act as physical bullets that vanish upon impact. You are always considered proficient with the phantom bullets and you can apply any firearm feats that apply to pistols to the effect of this spell. Spells that affect firearm ammunition can be cast on the phantom bullets and spells that protect against firearms protect against those created by this spell. You can cast this spell on yourself once per hand. You must dismiss the spell or run out of bullets before you can re-cast the spell on a particular hand. You cannot fire the phantom bullets if you are under the effect of a silence spell or are otherwise rendered incapable of speech. Variant Rules: In settings that predate the use of firearms, this spell is known as phantom crossbow. The spell simulates a repeating crossbow and utilizes feats compatible with crossbows. The bolts deal 1d8 points of nonlethal piercing damage, have a range increment of 80 ft. and threaten a critical hit on an unmodified roll of twenty. Otherwise the spells are identical.
Sort Detritus Universal Level: Arcane 0, Divine 0, Brd 0, Clr 0, Sor/Wiz 0 Components: V, S, F Casting Time: 1 standard action Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels) Target: A pile of material, up to 1 cubic ft./caster level Duration: 1 round/cubic foot sorted. Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless, object) Spell Resistance: Yes (object) Description: Colette Cordone developed this spell to aid her in sorting her recyclables without getting her hands dirty. The spell shuffles a pile of assorted junk into orderly piles based upon material construction. While handy for cleaning and garbage-sorting the spell has grown popular due to its usefulness in extracting useful items from piles of junk. Effect: You designate a single pile of disorganized material, up to 1 cubic foot per caster level. The pile will then split and sort itself into organized piles of metal, plastic, glass/stone/crystal, wood/paper and food leavings. The piles are stacked as neatly as possible. Objects made up of more than one substance are categorized by whatever substance is most prevalent in their construction. The sorting process takes one round per cubic foot of material sorted. Objects weighing more than one pound or that do not conform to any of the previously listed categories are not sorted and simply rest in their original position. Focus: Five bins, baskets or boxes, no two of which can be more than 10 feet apart. The sorted materials are placed within them by the spell.
